Clubs

A club is a private community run by a TFL Pro — a coach, academy, or organizer who sets the rules and the price. Under the hood a club is its own zone: joining adds it next to your regular zones, so the club gets its own rankings ladder, its own play invitations and tournaments, and its own community board that only members see.

That's the difference from a normal zone: anyone can opt into their city or county, but a club's membership is controlled by the Pro who runs it.

Every club picks one of three join policies:

• Open — join instantly from the club page.
• Approval— you send a request; the club's Pro approves or declines it.
• Invite-only— you can't apply; you get in only through an invitation from the club.

You join with a specific player, so a parent managing several players picks which one becomes the member.

Some clubs are free; some charge a monthly club fee. The club fee is always the Pro's money — it's billed through Stripe straight to the club owner, and it's separate from your TFL membership. Joining a paid club needs a payment method on file; if the Pro later makes the club free, your club-fee billing simply stops.

Some paid clubs go further and cover your TFL membership: while you're paying the club fee, it counts as your TFL membership too, so you don't buy a separate TFL subscription. The club's page says so when that's the deal. Coverage always rides on the fee — only a paid club can cover membership, a free club never does, and if the club drops its fee (or you stop paying it) the coverage ends and you need your own TFL membership to keep playing.

• A club-only ladder — your rating and class letter inside the club are computed against clubmates, separate from your public zones.
• Club play invitations and tournaments — events posted in the club zone are visible to members only.
• A members-only community board for club announcements and chatter.

You can leave any time from the club page. If you were paying a club fee, that subscription is cancelled at the end of the paid month — you keep access until then, and there are no further charges. Your match history stays; you just stop being a member of the club's zone.
