Getting started on TFL

On TFL, you sign in with a user account — but matches are played by players. Your account can manage any number of players: yourself, your kids, family members you organize tennis for. Each player has their own rating, match history, zones, and privacy setting.

When a page acts on behalf of a specific player, you'll see whose name you're acting as at the top — with a switcher if you manage more than one. Doubles players can also pair up as teams, which carry their own ratings.

Head to Players and use Add player. A player needs a name, a date of birth (which sets their age category for matchmaking and tournaments), and a gender. Contact details are optional — but adding a verified email or phone lets the player receive their own invites and notifications instead of everything routing through you.

You don't need a player on your roster to explore. With just your home ZIP code, you can browse tournaments, play invitations, and the community feed to see what's happening around you. Only your dashboard and schedule wait until there's a player to show — and the moment you want to actually join something, the flow walks you through the rest.

TFL membership is a per-player subscription, not per-account. A player needs to be covered by an active subscription before they can post or respond to play invitations for scored matches — browsing is always free. A zone is the community a player competes in. Zones can be plain geography — ZIP code, city, county, state, country — or curated: metro and regional zones that bundle nearby areas, custom zones created by Pros, and clubs. Players opt into the zones they want; invitations, rankings, and tournaments are all scoped by zone, and each zone keeps its own ladder.

Local and custom zones are open to everyone. State and country zones are earned by ranking — see Zone eligibility for how that works. Manage zones from account zones or per player from your roster.
